The Kubota L4740 compact utility tractor is one of the mid range models in the L40 series of compact tractors. Larger, more powerful models include the Kubota L5040, while if you are looking for something that’s a bit smaller, then you may consider the Kubota L3940 or the Kubota L4240 compact utility tractors. The L4740 tractor comes with the option of either an open operator station with just a foldable roll bar (ROPS) or with a cab. Obviously the model with a cab is going to be a little more expensive and a little heavier. Without the cab, the tractor weighs just 1620 kg (3751 lbs), while with the cab, it tips the scales at 1815 kg (4001 lbs).

The engine that powers the Kubota L4740 is a Kubota designed and built E-TVCS engine that you will find in all of the Kubota L40 tractors. This engine produces a maximum of 49 hp and up to 41.5 hp through the PTO shaft. The engine is a 4 stroke that’s powered by diesel. It has a total displacement of 2.434 liters and is vertically aligned. The engine is naturally aspirated and is started by a 12 volt battery that supplies the engine with 582 cold cranking amps of power. The engine on the L4740 has a rated speed of 2700 rpm.

The fuel tank on the Kubota L4740 has a capacity to hold a maximum of 54 liters (14.3 US gallons) of diesel. At the rear of the tractor, you will find a category 1, 3 point hitch.
