Kubota L3940
The Kubota L3940 tractor is part of the Kubota L40 series of compact utility tractors. The machine itself is fairly similar to the others is the L40 series as it uses a E-TVCS diesel engine to power it. This is a 4 stroke engine that has a displacement of 1.999 liters. The engine is a 4 cylinder and it uses indirect injection. It has a max power output of 40.5 hp. The engine on the L 3940 is started using a key start ignition and 12 volt battery that supplies the engine with 582 cold cranking amps. Once the engine is turned on, it uses either a 40 amp or 60 amp alternator (depending on the transmission type) to recharge it.
The engine powers the hydraulic system on the Kubota L3940. This system has a total hydraulic flow rate of 55.6 liters per minute (14.7 US gallons per minute). The hydraulic system powers the rear category 1, 3 point hitch that has a maximum lifting capacity of 1250 kg (2760 lbs). There are a number of different implements that can be used on the L3940 tractor. These include a front end loader, backhoe, front or rear snowblower, front blade, rotary broom, a rotary tiller and many more attachments.
There is a choice of transmission on the Kubota L3940 tractor. The FST gearbox gives the L 3940 a total of 8 gears traveling forwards and 8 gears for reversing. The GST transmission gives the tractor 12 gears for traveling forwards and 8 for reversing. The GST gives it a top speed of 25.7 kph (16 mph). The last transmission choice is the HST Plus which gives Kubota L3940 infinite speeds over 3 ranges and a top speed of 25.8 kph (16 mph). If this machine is a little too powerful for your tastes, then perhaps you would instead be interested in the likes of the Kubota L3540 or the Kubota L3240 tractors.
