John Deere 8300
The John Deere 8300 tractor is used predominantly by tillage farmers as it’s a powerful and reliable machine. This tractor has a total of 16 speeds going forwards and 4 for when it’s reversing. This is achieved through a full power shift transmission from JD. The tractor comes with a choice of chassis, either a 4X2 2WD or a 4X4 MFWD 4WD chassis. The operating weight of the tractor comes to 8809 kg (19,422 lbs) and it can be safely ballasted up to a weight of 11897 kg (26,230 lbs).
The engine that powers the John Deere 8300 tractor is designed and built in house by JD themselves. This engine is a 6 cylinder diesel. The engine uses a large liquid cooling system that can hold up to 27.3 liters of coolant to prevent the engine from overheating. The capacity of the oil reservoir is 21.5 liters. The engine itself has a total displacement of 7.6 liters and is turbocharged which allows it to pump out up to 200 hp. The engine on the JD 8300 is started with dual 12 volt batteries that produce 1850 cold cranking amps. Attached to the engine is a 140 amp alternator that recharges the batteries when the engine is running.
The hydraulics system on the John Deere 8300 has a total capacity of 113.6 liters (30 US gallons). This closed center system has a flow rate of 113.6 liters per minute (30 US gallons per minute). The hydraulics system on the JD 8300 powers the rear hitch (category 3/3N) to give it a maximum lifting capacity of 5307 kg (11,700 lbs), but with the addition of a lift assist cylinder this can be increased to 7098 kg (15,650 lbs). Smaller models than the JD 8300 include the John Deere 8100 or the John Deere 8200, while if you are looking for something bigger in the same series, then you should check out the John Deere 8400 tractor.
