McCulloch M17538H
The McCulloch M17538H is very decent garden tractor lawn mower from the team at McCulloch. It is very similar to a range of other tractor mowers that McCulloch produce. These include the McCulloch M175H38RB and the McCulloch M185107HRB tractor lawn mower which are more powerful and also come with a rear bagger attachment. The McCulloch M165107HRB also comes with a rear bagger attachment, but is slightly less powerful. The engine powering the M17538 is a Briggs and Stratton (surprise, surprise!). This is just a single cylinder engine that stays lubricated thanks to a splash lubrication system. The air intake uses a dry type air filter to purify it off any small particles like dust, etc.
The engine on the McCulloch M17538H transfers power to the wheels via a hydrostatic transmission. This makes the M17538H an automatic with no need for constant gear changing to change your speed. Instead you just need to use the hand operated lever. The engine also powers the mower deck on the lawn tractor. This mower deck has a cutting width of 0.97 m (38 inches). With the protective plastic discharge flap on the side of the mower deck, it’s total width is a good bit higher than this. While the standard way for dealing with the grass clippings is to just discharge them onto your lawn, you can also optionally purchase a bagger or a mulching plate to deal with the clippings.
The rear wheels on the McCulloch M17538H carry most of it’s load as well as power it forwards. This is why they are a little bit bigger. They each measure 18×8.5-8 (18 inch diameter, 8.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter). The front tires, which are responsible for the steering the lawn mower each measure 15×6-6 (15 inch diameter, 6 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter).
