McCulloch M12597
The McCulloch M12597 garden tractor lawn mower shares many features of both the McCulloch M12597RB and the McCulloch M12597HRB tractor lawnmowers. They all use the same engine, but their transmissions differ and their methods for dealing with the waste grass clippings differ also. The M125 97 gets it’s power from a Briggs and Stratton PowerBuilt engine. This engine is keystarted using a 12 volt battery. This engine is a one cylinder model. It keeps the moving parts properly oiled using a splash lubrication system. Going forward, the lawnmower has 5 speeds, while in reverse it only has one.
The front wheels on the McCulloch M12597 which steer it each measure 15×6-6 (15 inch diameter, 6 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter), while the rear tires, which drive it forwards/in reverse each measure 18×8.5-8 (18 inch diameter, 8.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter). The maximum height of the machine is 0.96 m (37.8 inches) and it has a wheelbase that measures 1.18 m (46.5 inches). The machine has a max length of 1.7 m (67 inches). The mower deck has a cutting width of 0.97 m (38 inches). However due to the discharge flap on the side of the machine, the total width of the M12597 comes to 1.13 m (44.5 inches).
The mower deck on the McCulloch M12597 is belt driven and manually engaged. It has a cutting range of 2.5 inches, from a low of 1.5 inches above the ground to a high of 4 inches above the ground. The standard option on the M12597 is to just discharge the cut grass out the side of the mower deck. However this often leaves your lawn looking messy, especially if you have just been mowing long grass. To counteract this, you can purchase a mulching kit which will turn the grass clippings into a highly nutritious and fast rotting mulch. The mower deck has 6 different cutting heights over it’s 2.5 inch range.
