The John Deere 62 tractor is a very old machine. It was first produced in 1937. Along with being a very old tractor, it is also an experimental model that was not widely produced, so you’re forgiven if you have never heard of this machine before. The JD 62 uses a Hercules NXA 2 cylinder engine to power it. This engine is naturally aspirated and has a total displacement of 0.9 liters. The engine is liquid cooled and gasoline powered. It’s total power output comes to 10 hp. The engine is built into a 4X2 2WD chassis and uses a Spicer made gearbox. This unsynchronized transmission gives the tractor just 3 gears going forwards and a single gear for reversing. The top speed of the tractor is 9.7 kph (6 mph).

The John Deere 62 tractor had a shipping weight of 680 kg (1500 lbs). At it’s widest point, it measures 1.24 m (49 inches), while it’s height from the ground to the top of the hood comes to 1.44 m (57 inches). The rear wheels which power the JD 62 each measure 6-22 (6 inch width, 22 inch rim diameter) while the front wheels which are responsible for steering the tractor each measure 4-15 (4 inch width, 15 inch rim diameter). The total length of the tractor from end to end is 2.31 m (91 inches).

Less than 100 JD 62’s were ever built. When production finished up on the 62, it was replaced with the John Deere L tractor. Don’t forget to leave a review of the John Deere 62 if you have operated one using the field below.
