John Deere 4610
The John Deere 4610 compact utility tractor is one of the largest in the series that also includes the likes of the John Deere 4410 and the John Deere 4510 tractors. The only machine the series that is bigger and more powerful is the John Deere 4710 tractor. The JD 4610 appeared as a replacement (updated model) of the John Deere 4600 compact utility tractor. The engine that powers it is a Yanmar 4TNE84. This is a 4 cylinder engine that stays cool using a liquid cooling system. The engine has 4 cylinders and is diesel powered. The total displacement of the engine comes to 2 liters. It fires at a compression ratio of 18:1. The engine is key started with a 12 volt battery that supplies 690 cold cranking amps. When the engine is running, it recharges the battery via a 40 amp alternator.
The John Deere 4610 has a choice of 3 different gearboxes. The best option for most people is the eHydro transmission. This is a hydrostatic transmission (over 3 ranges; Hi, Medium, Lo) that means minimal gear changing is required. Instead you just need to use the eTouch pedals to speed up or slow down. The second choice is a partially synchronized transmission that gives the JD 4610 9 speeds going forwards and 3 for reversing. The last transmission choice is a power shuffle PowrReverser transmission that gives the tractor 12 speeds in both forwards and reverse.
The John Deere 4610 can accommodate a range of attachments thanks to a mid PTO that can handle up to a 72 inch wide mower deck as well as a rear PTO that powers a massive range of implements from backhoes to tillers. The rear hitch is a category 1 model with a maximum lifting capacity of 1134 kg (2500 lbs). The JD 4610 has power steering and uses wet disc brakes for slowing down.
