The John Deere 4055 tractor is the first model in the JD 4055 series of row crop tractors. This tractor has a 114 hp diesel engine that is turbocharged. The engine uses a liquid cooling system to take excess heat away from the engine. It fires at a compression ratio of 16:1. The engine uses a dual paper air filter on the air intake to scrub it of dust and other small particles that have the potential to accumulate and disrupt the firing process or even permanently damage the engine. The John Deere 4055 comes with a choice of chassis, either a 4X2 2WD or a 4X4 MFWD 4WD chassis. The 2WD chassis gives the JD 4055 a total operational weight of 5502 kg (12,130 lbs), while the 4WD chassis gives it an operating weight of 6329 kg (13,955 lbs).
