The John Deere 4455 is a large and powerful pulling tractor that was produced at JD’s Waterloo factory in Iowa and their factory in Saltillo in Mexico for 4 years between 1988 and 1992. The engine itself is a John Deere diesel. It’s a turbocharged, 6 cylinder, 7.6 liter engine that produces 148 hp. It’s got a liquid cooling system and has a dual paper air filter. The JD 4455 has a choice of transmissions. The first is the partial power shift, John Deere Quad Range that gives the tractor 16 gears when driving forward and 6 for reversing. The second choice is the full power shift, John Deere Power Shift transmission that gives you 15 gears for driving forwards and 4 gears for when you are reversing. The maximum speed that the John Deere 4455 can attain is a respectable 19.7 mph while it can only manage about a third of this speed in reverse.

You also get a choice of what type of chassis you want on the JD 4455. You can go with the 4×2 2WD or the 4×4 MFWD 4WD. The cab that this tractor comes with as standard is the Sound Guard cab. The tractor has a category 2, 3 point hitch that has a lifting capacity of up to 3302 kg (7281 lbs) when using the lift assist cylinder.

The weight of the tractor when it’s shipped dry is 6416 kg (14145 lbs) but once it’s fully operational it weighs in at 6938 kg (15275 lbs). It has a wheelbase of 2.69 m (106 inches) but with the addition of dual wheels the width will increase substantially. As well as being a reasonable tractor for pulling, it also has the option of taking a John Deere 840 front end loader attachment. This loader has a bucket width of 2.45 m (96.5 inches) and a dump clearance of 3.78 m (149 inches). Thanks to the wide availability of John Deere parts, the John Deere 4455 is very easy to repair if you run into any mechanical difficultly or problems.
