John Deere 180C
The John Deere 180C walk behind lawnmower is a 2011 self propelled lawn mower that has been specifically designed for cutting the grass on golf greens. As such, it’s quite different from many of the lawn mowers that John Deere are so well known for. The engine powering this lawn mower is a Honda GX120. This engine is a 4 stroke with a total displacement of 0.118 liters. The engine is prevented from overheating thanks to an air cooling system. The fuel tank on the JD 180C can hold up to 2.5 liters (0.7 US gallons) of gasoline. Going forwards, this engine gives the lawnmower a max speed of 8.4 kph (5.2 mph).
The cutting width of the John Deere 180C is 0.46 m (18.1 inches). The cutting height of the JD 180 C ranges from a low of just 2 mm above the ground up to a high of 22 mm. Remember that the cutting width is so low for the simple reason that the lawnmower is designed specifically for golf greens. Unlike regular walk behind lawnmowers, that have rotating blades, this one has a rotating cylinder. This rotating cylinder gives a much more even and clean cut to the grass than a blade ever could.
The John Deere 180C obviously comes with a grass clipping collector as standard. The total weight of the machine, including the grass collector comes to 92.3 kg (203 lbs) which means that it’s highly unlikely to mark the greens it’s cutting. There are other similar golfing green lawnmowers to this one that include the John Deere 220C and John Deere 260C self propelled, walk behind lawn mowers that are a little bit more powerful. If you have ever used or owned a JD 180C then make sure to leave a review of it below to let others know what you think of it.
