The Cub Cadet RECON 48 zero turn lawn mower gets it’s power from a twin cylinder Kohler engine. This engine has overhead valves and uses a full pressure lubrication system to stay properly lubricated throughout operation. The total displacement of the engine comes to 0.674 liters and this gives it a max power output of 23 hp. The engine is kept cool thanks to an air cooling system. As you would expect, the engine is keystarted using a 12 volt battery. The engine uses a dual element, heavy duty air filter to clean the air intake before it goes into the engine.

There are 2 large 18.9 liter (5 US gallon) gas tanks on the Cub Cadet RECON 48 zero turn lawn mower which keep it supplied with fuel. This engine powers the blades on the 48 inch mower deck on the RECON 48. There are three, 17 inch blades inside the deck. This is a floating deck which uses a nose roller and a number of anti scalping wheels to make sure that it follows the angle of the ground as you travel over it and they also help to prevent you from scratching or scarring the lawn. The deck is belt driven and engaged electronically. The 48″ mower deck is raised and lowered from a high of 5 inches above the ground to a low of 1 inch above the ground using a spring assisted foot lever.

As the Cub Cadet RECON 48 is a very large machine, it comes with a roll bar (ROPS) that you can fold away for storage in low ceiling sheds.
