The Cub Cadet LT1046 garden tractor lawn mower is from the same family of tractors as the Cub Cadet LT1045, the Cub Cadet LT1042 and the Cub Cadet LT1040 lawn tractors. It has a 46 inch mower deck that houses 3 blades which work to give a much more even and neat cut to your lawn than a single blade working alone would. The deck is adjustable over 3 inches from a high of 4 inches above the ground down when you have to cut very long and/or damp grass down to a low of just 1 inch above the ground when you are cutting your lawn very short and neat. Like most mower decks on Cub Cadet lawn mowers, the mower deck on the LT 1046 has a number of anti scalping wheels attached to the outer edges.

The Cub Cadet LT1046 spits out the cut grass clippings on the right hand side of the deck using the discharge chute to prevent them from flying everywhere. If you don’t like the messy look that your lawn has with the clippings rotting on top of it, you can use an optional mulching system with the LT 1046 so that the grass clippings rot more rapidly. Alternatively, if you have some spare cash, you can purchase a rear bagger to collect the clippings which will leave your lawn looking far cleaner.

The mower deck on the Cub Cadet LT1046 tractor lawn mower is powered by the CV23 Kohler Command engine that also powers the rear wheels. This engine is a 2 cylinder model with a total displacement of 0.624 liters. The rear wheels that the engine powers each measure 20×10-8 (20 inch diameter, 10 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter). The operator can slow down the lawn mower using the pedal operated dry disc brakes.
