Bad Boy 5200 Pup
There are 2 different models in the Pup series of zero turn lawn mowers from Badboy. The smaller is the Bad Boy 5200 Pup lawn mower which this review is about, while the Bad Boy 6000 Pup is larger in terms of cutting width, although it has the same power output. The engine powering the Bad Boy 5200 Pup zero turn mower is a Command engine from Kohler. This engine is a twin cylinder model that is prevented from getting too hot thanks to an air cooling system. The engine uses a fully pressurized lubrication system to prevent if from seizing up or wearing excessively. You start the engine using a key start ignition. When the engine is running, it recharges the battery through a 20 amp alternator.
The fuel tank, supplying the Bad Boy 5200 Pup with gasoline is very large, capable of holding up to 54.9 liters (14.5 US gallons). This very large fuel capacity is handy as it means that you’ll only rarely need to refill it. The engine transfers power to the rear wheels using a dual hydrostatic transmission system that is composed of Hydro-Gear pumps and Parker wheel motors. This system gives the Pup 5200 a top speed of 16.1 kph (10 mph) going forwards.
The rear wheels on the Bad Boy 5200 Pup do most of the work. It’s their job to power the lawnmower, steer it and carry the majority of it’s weight. Each rear wheel is 23×10.5-12 (23 inch diameter, 10.5 inch width, 12 inch rim diameter). The main job of the front wheels is to allow the 5200 to turn easily. This is why they are smooth and measure 13×6.5-6 (13 inch diameter, 6.5 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter). The mower deck has a cutting width of 52 inches. There are also a lot of attachments that you can use with this machine that range from utility carts to snow plow blades.
