Toro TimeCutter Z4220
The Toro TimeCutter Z4220 zero turn lawn mower is a mid-sized zero turn lawn mower from the TimeCutter series. This machine is marketed towards both commercial landscapers as well as individual homeowners. The engine that powers the Z 4220 is a Kohler Courage Twin Cam. The engine has a displacement of 0.597 liters and a total power output of 21 hp. The engine has a fairly long operating life thanks to overhead valves as well as a full pressure lubrication system. Toro’s faith in the Time Cutter Z 4220 is fairly apparent due to the fact that it comes with a 3 year limited warranty.
The Toro TimeCutter Z4220 zero turn mower uses a dual hydrostatic transmission system to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. This means that the speed and orientation (backwards or forwards) of each rear wheel can be controlled independent of the other. The rear wheels are controlled using the Dual Comfort Grip levers in front of the operator. The rear wheels which power and steer the Z 4220 are very big, each measuring 18×7.5 (18 inch diameter, 7.5 inch width). They also carry most of the lawn mower’s weight. The front wheels are a lot smaller as they have far less work to do. They each measure 10×4 (10 inch diameter, 4 inch width).
The mower deck on the Toro TimeCutter Z4220 mower has a cutting width of 42 inches. It’s standard mode of operation is to just discharge the grass clippings out the side of the deck. However, if you want you can purchase an optional mulching kit or a rear attached bagger to collect the grass clippings. The mower deck operates over 3 inches, from a low of 1.5 inches above the ground up to 4.5 inches above the ground. Similar models to this one are the Toro TimeCutter SS4200 , the Toro TimeCutter SS4260 and the Toro TimeCutter Z4235 lawnmowers.
