Poulan Pro 460ZX
The Poulan Pro 460ZX zero turn lawn mower is a mid range model zero turn lawnmower from Poulan which is very similar to the Poulan Pro 461ZX but is not quite as powerful as either the Poulan Pro 540ZX or the Poulan Pro 541ZX zero turn lawnmowers. The mower deck on the 460ZX is 46 inches wide (which you may have have guessed from the name). This is a stamped steel, vented deck system that is engaged using an electric clutch. The lawnmower houses 2 blades which can cut as low as 1.5 inches above the ground. However if you are going to be tackling particularly damp or long grass, then you can raise it to a height of up to 4 inches above the lawn. The mower deck is raised and lowered in half inch increments.
The engine powering the mower deck on the Poulan Pro 460ZX is a Briggs and Stratton Professional Series engine. This single cylinder model has a power output of 19.5 hp. The fuel tank from where the engine draws gasoline can hold up to 11.4 liters (3 US gallons). The Briggs and Stratton engine on the 460ZX transmits power to the wheels through a Hydro-Gear EZT dual hydrostatic transmission. It’s this transmission that allows the operator to independently control each rear wheel and make zero radius turns. The top speed of the zero turn lawn mower using this transmission comes to a fairly nippy 10.5 kph (6.5 mph).
The Poulan Pro 460ZX is most suitable for gardens that range in size from about 1 acre up to roughly 5 acres. If your garden is smaller than one acre then it would be far more economical to use a smaller, cheaper machine. While if it is bigger, then you may find it more efficient to use a zero turn lawnmower with a larger cutting width like the Poulan Pro 540ZX.
