McCulloch M14597
There are 2 incredibly similar versions of the McCulloch M14597. There is the regular McCulloch M14597 lawnmower which drives the wheels using a gearshift transmission, while there is also a McCulloch M14597H garden tractor lawn mower which drives the rear wheels using a hydrostatic transmission. Other than their transmissions, these 2 models are practically identical. Then engine that powers both of these machines is a PowerBuilt motor from Briggs and Stratton. This engine produces a net power of 8.7 kW at 2500 rpm. This engine is keystarted using a 12 volt battery. It has a fuel tank that can hold up to 4.7 liters (1.2 US gallons) of gasoline.
Power from the engine gets to the mower deck on the McCulloch M14597 by being transferred through a belt drive system. The blades themselves are engaged using a manual PTO. The mower deck has a cutting width of 0.97 m (38.2 inches). It’s standard method for dealing with grass clippings is to just discharge them onto the lawn. However you can optionally buy a rear bagger attachment to collect them or a mulching kit to turn them into a fast rotting mulch. The mower deck on the M14597 has 6 operating positions that range from a high of 4 inches above the ground to a low of 1 inch above the ground.
The front tires on the McCulloch M14597 are responsible for steering it. They each measure 15×6-6 (15 inch diameter, 6 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter). The rear wheels drive the lawnmower. They each measure 18×8.5-8 (18 inch diameter, 8.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter). If you are looking for a similar sized machine to the M14597, but with a little less power then you should consider something like the McCulloch M13597. However if it’s something with more power that you are after, the McCulloch M155107HRB may be appealing to you.
