Kubota M8540
The Kubota M8540 utility tractor is one of the bigger machines in the M series. It’s both bigger and more powerful than others in the series such as the Kubota M6040 or the Kubota M7040 or the Kubota M7040SU tractors. The engine that powers the M 8540 is a V3800-DI-T diesel. It has a rated engine speed of 2600 rpm and has a total size of 3.769 liters. The 4 cylinder motor uses direct injection technology which greatly aids it starting in cold conditions. It’s turbocharged and produces a maximum output of 95 hp. The engine sits on a choice of either a 2WD chassis or a 4WD chassis.
The hydraulics on the Kubota M8480 tractor are powered by this engine. This hydraulics system has a maximum pumping capacity flow rate of 64.3 liters (17 US gallons) on the 3 point hitch on the rear of the tractor. This gives the 3 point hitch a maximum lifting capacity of up to 3300 kg (7275 lbs). The hitch on the M 8540 is a category 2 model. This tractor also comes with a choice of either an open operator’s station (with ROPS) which is perfect for people using it in warm weather areas. However if you are going to be using it in sleet, rain and snow, then you are best off purchasing it with a cab. Depending on your chassis choice and whether you choose a cab model or open operator station model, the tractor weighs between 2270 kg (5005 lbs) and 2750 kg (6065 lbs).
The Kubota M8540 utility also has a choice of 2 transmissions. The first is a gearshift transmission that gives it 8 speeds when traveling forwards and 8 for reversing also. However if this does not float your boat, you can always opt for the transmission that gives you 12 speeds traveling forwards and 12 in reverse.
