Kubota M6040
The Kubota M6040 is a more powerful but similar model to both the Kubota M5140 and the Kubota M5640SU tractors, but it’s not nearly as powerful as the Kubota M7040. There are many different combinations of the M6040 that you can buy. There are 2 main choices that you have when you are purchasing it. The first is whether you get it with a 2WD chassis or a 4WD chassis. The other is deciding whether to purchase it with a cab or with just an open operator station (both come with a ROPS). Obviously if you live in an area that receives very cold weather, it’s worth spending that extra little bit of money to get the model with the cab.
The engine that powers the Kubota M6040 tractor is a E-CDIS diesel. This engine has a displacement of 3.331 liters and uses direct injection to help it start in cold weather. The maximum power output of the engine is 63.5 hp and the engine is rated at 2600 rpm. If you do decide to purchase the M 6040 with a cab, then you will be glad to know that it comes with a larger fuel tank that can hold up to 90 liters (23. 8 US gallons) of diesel. The model with an open operator station holds less diesel at just 70 liters (18.5 US gallons). Both engines use a 12 volt battery, key start ignition system.
The Kubota M6040 transfers power from the engine to the wheels through a gearshift transmission. This gives the M 6040, 8 gears when traveling forwards and 8 when it’s reversing also. There is a choice of either a category 1 or a category 2, 3 point hitch with this model. The hydraulics system powering the 3 point hitch gives it a maximum lifting capacity of 1500 kg (3307 lbs). The flow rate for the hydraulics system powering the 3 point hitch comes in at 41.6 l/min (11 US gallons per minute).
