The Kubota L35 tractor had a fairly reasonable production run of 5 years from 1999 until work on this model stopped in 2004. It is powered by a 3 cylinder engine that was produced by the guys at Kubota. It’s a diesel engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters. This engines gives the tractor a maximum power output of 35 hp. The engine sits in the L35’s 4×4 MFWD 4WD chassis.

Power on the Kubota L35 is directed to the wheels of the tractor via transmission box that gives it 8 gears for when it’s traveling forwards and 4 gears for when it’s traveling in reverse. As this tractor comes with a front loader and backhoe, many see it as a very good industrial/commercial tractor to have on a construction site. One of the major drawbacks to this machine though is that it is not actually that big (35 hp only!), so it’s not particularly strong with heavy loads. The Kubota L35 has a loader capacity of just 750 kg (1653 lbs). However actually using the loader is very easy, you just need to use the joystick. It only needs one joystick to dump and lift the bucket back up as well as raise and lower the boom.

The backhoe is also reasonably easy to use. It has a maximum dig depth of 2.82 m (9.2 feet). It uses a quick attach mounting system that connects to it’s category 1, 3 point hitch. This means that the Kubota L35 can also accommodate a massive range of other optional attachments. The max rear lifting capacity of the 3 point hitch comes in at 1050 kg (2315 lbs). It uses a 4 column ROPS (roll cage) to protect the operator in the case of Kubota L35 tractor tipping or rolling over. It also has extra protection through a falling object protection system (FOPS).

Put about 1200 hrs on it. Blew head gasket when mowing forty acres around 750 hrs. Cracked head and replaced it with new gasket and water pump. Clutch went out around 900 hrs. Split tractor and had about 60 hrs for that job. Around 1100 main hydraulic hard line blew at banjo into case. About 25 hrs to remove all panels to snake it through. New line was reinforced with collar as well as smoother radius and gusseted. Semi related note when using offset flail one time it hit a stump and the offset cylinder back pressure (like when using a grapple and dragging backwards) spiked and exploded galvanized ell into remote female. Never use galvanized lol chunks of metal embedded in my coveralls
It has been a workhorse for everything I have put it through. Planted hundreds of 24” and 36” boxed trees with backhoe setting them down no problem. Front end loader could be quicker to take off but it’s not that bad. Use for many random things just tonight it was dragging a 580c carcass backwards with both rear wheels in the air

    I bought the L35 new in 2001.
Have never regretted it. It’s paid for itself a dozen times over, on the ranch and construction sites.
Bought the 4 in 1 bucket when new- a whole “machine” in itself.
I run a 6′ rotary mower, 9″ chipper, 5′ tiller, auger, 6′ grading box, stump grinder and of course the backhoe., which i use for digging foundations, trenching, grading on job sites.
A bit of time ot switch implements. I highly recommend hydralic controls
to vary pitch and angles fo PTO powered implements. Adds a ton of on the spot versatility to whatever you’re dragging around/using.
light enough (6500-7000#) to transport with a 3/4 or 1 ton truck.
