Kubota L2800
The Kubota L2800 compact utility tractor is powered by a Kubota made engine. It’s a 3 cylinder, diesel engine that has a total power output of 29 hp. The size of the engine is 1.4 liters. The engine is started by a 12 volt battery. There was a choice of gear boxes when you were buying the L2800 fresh off the assembly line. You could get a constant mesh transmission system that gives the machine 8 speeds going forward and 4 speeds for when it’s reversing. Or you could get it with a hydrostatic transmission that gives the tractor an infinite number of speeds over 3 ranges (Hi, Medium and Lo gears).
The fuel tank on the tractor has a capacity for holding 34.1 liters (9 US gallons) of diesel. It can take a variety of attachments thanks to it’s category 1, 3 point hitch, which gives it a maximum rear lift capacity of 906 kg (1998 lbs) making it very useful for small and medium sized farmers. The Kubota L2800 had a choice of 2 chassis when you were buying it first hand. The first choice is a 4×2 2WD chassis or you could choose the slightly more steady 4×4 MFWD 4WD chassis. Obviously having a choice of chassis means that the tractor’s dimensions will vary.
If you chose the 4×2 2WD chassis, the Kubota L2800 will measure 2.8 m (110.6 inches) in length and will be 1070 kg (2359 lbs) in weight. However if you chose the 4×4 MFWD 4WD chassis, your Kubota L2800 will be 2.7 m (106.5 inches) in length and will weigh in at 1179 kg (2600 lbs). Both the 2WD and 4WD chassis give the L2800 a height 2.15 m (85 inches) and ground clearance of 0.34 m (13.5 inches). They both have wheelbase of 1.6 m (63.3 inches). As well as being able to accommodate many implements through it’s rear PTO, it can also take a front end loader.
