Kubota BX2660
The Kubota BX2660 garden tractor and lawn mower is one of the bigger machines in the BX series. Smaller models include the Kubota BX1860, Kubota BX 25 and the Kubota BX2360 lawn tractors. The engine that powers this compact lawn tractor is a Kubota D1005. This engine is fueled by diesel and produces a very respectable 25.5 hp. The engine size is 1.001 liters and it is kept cool thanks to a liquid cooling system. The engine on the BX 2660 powers a rear PTO at 540 rpm and it also powers a mid PTO at a higher 2500 rpm. There are a number of implements that can be attached to the rear of the machine including a bagger to collect the grass clippings cut by the mower deck which is mid mounted and attached to the mid PTO.
There are actually 2 different mid mounted mower decks for the Kubota BX2660. The smaller deck compatible with the BX 2660 has a cutting width of 54 inches, while the larger has a cutting width of 60 inches. Both mower decks have 3 blades to give a more even cut. You will also notice a number of small plastic anti-scalping wheels attached to the front and rear of the mower deck to make sure that it remains elevated above the cutting surface and doesn’t cut into the lawn you are mowing if you happen to pass over particularly uneven ground.
The Kubota BX2660 is very easy to control thanks to it’s hydrostatic power steering. It also has the ability to switch from 2WD to 4WD on demand. Thankfully the BX2660 comes with a roll bar (ROPS) as standard to protect the operator in case the tractor tips during operation. A Kubota LA243 front end loader is compatible with this garden tractor. This loader has a 48 inch wide bucket that has a capacity to hold up to 140 liters in volume.

After selling my 1981 B5100e and getting this BX2660, WOW is all I can say. Kubota makes the best and it shows in this tractor. Both have been extremely reliable, easy to work on and maintain. Lots of room, easy to reach controls, comfortable seat, and easy start no matter how cold it is. Plenty of power and for a small tractor, it has snot when digging into dirt or stone piles. Power steering makes mowing around my 3 acres of trees a pleasure. On demand 4×4 is great for keeping you out of trouble. Both FEL and MMM only take a couple of minutes to attach or remove. If your thinking of a tractor, I would highly recommend a Kubota BX series. Very well built machines, and built to last.
I plant and care for food plots and mow a number of acres of lawn. My BX2669 meets my expectations.
Just roto-tilled 1/2 acre with borrowed 48″ tiller. Tractor handled tiller with ease and with hydraulic steering was a breeze to control during tilling.
