John Deere X304
The John Deere X304 garden tractor lawn mower is from the JD x300 series that includes the John Deere X320 lawnmower. The JD X304 has been rolling off the assembly line in the JD Horicon factory in Wisconsin since 2006. The machine is powered by a Kawasaki V twin, 2 cylinder, gasoline engine. This air cooled engine provides the lawnmower with 17 hp. This power is transferred through a K46 automatic transmission which negates the need for gears. Instead you have infinite speeds going forward and backward on the JD X304. The tractor mower has a max speed of 5.5 mph when traveling forward. When it’s reversing it can manage a top speed of 4 mph.
The max capacity of the fuel tank is 13.2 liters (3.5 US gallons) of gasoline/petrol. The Kawasaki engine sits on top of a 4×2 2WD chassis. The great thing about the John Deere X304 is that it uses a 4 wheel steering system (4WS) that makes it far more agile by similar sized lawn mowers offered by competitors. The 4WS gives the JD X304 a minimum turning radius of an amazing 0.38 m (15 inches).
The mower deck that comes standard with the John Deere X304 is a 42 inch deck that features the John Deere Edge Xtra cutting system which makes for a much more even cut, unlike some other mowers that leave a scrappy, uneven, half cut lawns. The wheelbase of the JD X304 is 1.25 m (49.4 inches) while it is 1.35 m (53 inches) wide when the mower deck is attached. Without the mower deck, it is just 1.04 m (41 inches) wide. When the mower is attached and the lawn mower is fully fueled up, it weighs in at 285 kg (629 lbs). The X304 ride on lawnmower is quite popular among people with small gardens to mow as it has such a small turning radius.
