John Deere LT170
The John Deere LT170 lawnmower is one of the bigger models in the LT series that JD produced during the late nineties and early noughties. It gets it’s power from a 2 cylinder, V twin Briggs Vanguard engine that has a power output of 16 hp. The transmission on the JD LT170 is similar to that on other models as it’s a hydrostatic transmission, making the lawnmower an automatic. To control your speed while driving the LT170, you just need to use the Twin Touch pedals that make operating it incredibly easy.
The John Deere LT170 uses a 42 inch mower deck know as the Freedom42. It’s the exact same mower deck used on the John Deere LT160 Freedom lawnmower. This mulches the clippings incredibly efficiently helping to return nutrients to the soil. As well as the mower deck, you are also able to attach numerous other implement to the JD LT170, from snowblowers snow blades as well as many other useful implements. Many people buying brand new ride on lawnmowers complain of their front axle quickly getting damaged or degrading. Luckily this is highly unlikely on the LT 170 lawnmower thanks to the fact that the front axle is made from cast iron for an extra long life.
You will be pleased to know that the John Deere LT170 comes with headlights as standard, so if needs be you can operate this in the dark. These headlights are especially useful in the winter months when you may be clearing snow from you driveway with a John Deere snow blower attachment early in the morning before it’s bright. If you are looking for larger models in the LT series, then you may be interested in the John Deere LT180 or the John Deere LT190 lawnmowers.
