John Deere LESCO SL80A
Unbeknownst to some, John Deere also make a range of equipment under other names. Many are aware of the John Deere Sabre lawnmower series. But few are aware that John Deere also own and operate the LESCO brand. Under this brand, they also make a large range of lawn mowers and other machinery. The John Deere LESCO SL80A is an example of the lawnmowers they build. This is a stand on lawn mower with a zero turning radius, allowing it to operate in very tight and confined areas. The LESCO SL80A is powered by a twin cylinder Kawasaki engine that produces 19 hp.This 0.585 liter engine operates at 3600 RPM and has it’s crankshaft vertically aligned.
The engine on the John Deere LESCO SL80A is key started through a 12 volt battery. This battery is then recharged during operation through a 15 amp alternator. As the JD LESCO SL80A is a zero turn lawn mower, the transmission transferring power from the engine to the wheels is a dual hydrostatic Hydro-Gear model, allowing you to control the speed and direction of each rear wheel independently.Even though this is a stand up lawn mower, it’s still very nippy with a top speed clocking in at 14.5 kph (9 mph).
The mower deck on the John Deere LESCO SL80A has a cutting width of 34 inches, but is actually considerably wider than this once the discharge chute is down. The machine is fairly short, having a length of just 1.41 m (55.5 inches). The total weight of the machine, before it’s fueled up or has oil added to the engine comes in at 412.8 kg (910 lbs). If you are looking for a bigger LESCO lawn mower from John Deere, then you may be interested in the John Deere LESCO SL85A or the John Deere LESCO SL88A lawnmowers.
