John Deere Gator XUV 825i
The John Deere Gator XUV 825i 4×4 utility vehicle is a big step up from the John Deere Gator XUV 625i utility vehicle. The most noticeable thing is that the engine on the JD XUV825i is much more powerful, providing 50 hp from a 4 stroke, electronic fuel injection engine. This 3 cylinder engine is liquid cooled and has a fully pressurized lubrication system to keep the moving parts properly oiled which helps to prevent excessive wear. A dry type, single element air filter purifies the air intake and removes any dust particles that might be present. The 12 volt battery provides the engine with 340 cold cranking amps and is recharged by a 75 amp alternator.
The battery on the John Deere Gator XUV 825i also powers the 2 (one on each front corner) halogen headlights, which allows you to operate this 4×4 utility vehicle in the dark with ease. The fuel tank on the JD XUV825i can hold up to 20.1 liters (5.3 US gallons) of fuel. When running on half load, the fuel consumption runs at 2.65 liters per hour, which means that you should get at least 6 hours runtime from it (provided you aren’t going flat out). Power from the engine gets to the wheels through a continuously variable transmission that gives the JD XUV 825i infinite speeds over 2 ranges (Hi & Lo). It’s top speed is 71 kph (44 mph) in Hi gear.
As the John Deere Gator XUV 825i 4×4 utility vehicle is so fast, it’s a good thing that it has a quality occupant protection system. This includes a roll cage made from welded 1.75 inch steel tubing. There is a passenger grab handle and 3 point seat belts to keep the occupants from falling out of the machine in the event of a crash. If you are looking for something similar but with half the power, then the John Deere Gator XUV 855D may be appealing to you.

I am completely satified with the 825i Gator. It does everything I need or want it to, is stable on our very hilly terrain here in southern Indiana and has an abundance of power. My wife loves to use it around our property and we also use it at our church. We have a FEMA certified emergency response team at our church and the Gator also doubles as our rescue vehicle and will pull our trailer cross country if needed.
Not for everyone, but for me, it is now the only choice.
Power steering might be a nice option however, the manual steering is very easy and turning radius is exceptional.
My only complaint, the clutch will disengage on slow downhill sections and you are left with no engine braking. The good is, the Gator brakes are excelent and strong and should serve for many hours or miles.
