John Deere Gator TH
There are 2 distinct John Deere Gator TH 6×4 utility vehicles. Their main difference is their engines (one is gas, the other is diesel) but there are other differences too. The gasoline powered model has a 2 cylinder Kawasaki. This engine is a 4 stroke and has a displacement of 0.675 liters. It produces 19 hp. The engine is started using a 12 volt battery which is recharged via a 16.6 amp alternator. The diesel powered model uses a 3 cylinder Yanmar engine. This is a 4 stroke engine which is liquid cooled and is slightly bigger with a displacement of 0.854 liters. The diesel engine is the more powerful of the 2 pumping out 20.8 hp, while the gasoline engine can only manage 19 hp.
The 12V battery used to start the diesel engine on the John Deere Gator TH is recharged with a 40 amp alternator. Both models have a top speed of 32 kph (20 mph). As the gas powered model is not quite as powerful, it can only take up to 454 kg (1000 lbs) in it’s rear cargo box while the diesel powered 6×4 version of the utility vehicle can take slightly more at 544 kg (1200 lbs). When towing, the diesel model of the JD TH Gator is again the strongest, capable of hauling 726 kg (1600 lbs) behind it, while the gasoline powered model can only handle 635 kg (1400 lbs).
The most striking fact about the John Deere Gator TH 6×4 is that it has 6 wheels instead of 4. This makes it far more stable, offers better traction and distributes it’s weight into the ground more evenly (which is great if you are using it on a golf course or lawn where you don’t want to leave tracks). The John Deere TH Gator also features a differential lock which means that it’s far less likely to tear up the ground you are using it on.
