John Deere Gator CX
To many, the John Deere Gator CX 4×2 utility vehicle seems like a miniature version of most of the other utility vehicles that JD produce like the John Deere Gator HPX or the John Deere Gator XUV 625i machines. This is mainly because it’s just so small and has a very low powered engine. The engine powering the JD CX Gator only has a displacement of 0.286 liters which produces just 9.5 hp. This 4 storke, single cylinder engine is air cooled and started by a Magneto ignition which uses a 12 volt battery. This battery is recharged by a 15 amp alternator when the engine is up and running.
The John Deere Gator CX uses a continuous variable tranmission which gives it a top speed of 24 kph (15 mph) going forward and 16 kph (10 mph) when reversing, which still makes it quite nippy despite it’s lack of power. The cargo box that comes with this model as standard only has a capacity to hold 400 lbs of weight so many find that this machine is far better suited to transporting people as opposed to being used a a serious machine around a farm or woodland. Fortunately is is very maneuverable thanks to it’s low minimum turning radius of 3 m.
When purchasing the John Deere Gator CX 4×2 utility vehicle, you can get it with either turf tires (which leave almost no thread marks in even very soft ground) or knobby tires which will offer more grip but tend to leave bigger marks in the ground. The total weight of the JD Gator CX comes to 312 kg (687 lbs), which may seem heavy for a machine that only has a 9.5 hp engine, but is incredibly light for a JD utility vehicle. The bucket seats that come with the machine are highly adjustable and feature high backs for maximum comfort.
