John Deere B
The John Deere B tractor is definitely a collectors item. It was manufactured between 1935 and 1952. That’s almost 20 years in production which is almost completely unheard of these days. However there were many different variations of the JD B. The original tractor was designed as a mid sized row crop tractor, while the variations include:
The John Deere BR came out a year after the B in 1936 and it’s production run ended in 1947. What made the BR different was that it was fixed thread. Or for those of you who don’t know what that means, it came with a much wider front wheel base.
The John Deere BO differs from the BR (the ‘R’ stands for regular) as the BO was designed for use in orchards (the ‘O’ stands for Orchards)
The John Deere BI is again another variation of the ‘B’ model (the ‘I’ stands for industrial) and was produced from 1936 to 1941. It was notably different from what you’d normally expect from John Deere. Instead of it’s tradmark green and yellow strip, the John Deere BI was instead completely yellow.
The John Deere BO Lindeman was the final variation in the ‘B’ model series. What made the Lindeman stand out very much from the others was that instead of tires/wheels, it was a crawler. These crawlers were John Deere authorized adaptations of the orchard/’BO’ model. These were altered by the Lindeman Power Equipment Company with JD’s permission between 1938 and 1947.
There is still many a John Deere B around today. It is definitely seen as collectors item so most people who have one either use it very little and are very careful with it or they only use it when showing it off to friends.
