John Deere 8560
The John Deere 8560 tractor sits on an articulated 4X4 4WD chassis that allows it to pull incredibly heavy machinery behind it. This tractor first appeared for sale in 1989. On the scales, the tractor weighs in at 14,549 kg (32,075 lbs). As you can probably imagine, moving a machine this size requires a massive amount of power (nevermind pulling a heavy load as well!). Thus the engine is an absolute beast. The engine is built in house by JD themselves. It is a turbocharged diesel that has a total power output of 235 hp. The total displacement of the engine comes to 7.6 liters. The engine that powers the JD 8560 stays cool thanks to a large liquid cooling system.
There are two possible gearboxes that come with the John Deere 8560 tractor. The first is a full power shift John Deere ‘Power Shift’ gearbox. This transmission system gives the operator a total of 12 speeds traveling forwards and 3 for driving in reverse. The other gearbox choice is a John Deere PowrSync transmission that gives the operator double the gear choices, 24 going forwards and 6 for reversing. The driver controls the tractor through hydraulic wet disc brakes and a hydrostatic power steering system.
The JD 8560 was replaced with the John Deere 8570 tractor when production finished in 1993. The other 2, larger machines in the JD 8060 series of articulated tractors is the John Deere 8760 and the John Deere 8960 tractors.
