John Deere 7800
The John Deere 7800 tractor is a powerful piece of machinery that JD produced during the nineties in their Waterloo plant in Iowa. The JD 7800’s production lasted for 4 years from ’92 until it was replaced with the John Deere 7810 in ’96. The 7800 is powered by a robust diesel, turbocharged, 6 cylinder engine. It’s a quite big with a displacement of 7.6 liters and requires 26 liters of coolant for it’s liquid cooling system. This produces 147 hp which is transmitted to a choice of chassis to move the tractor; either a 4×2 2WD chassis or optionally a 4×4 MFWD 4WD chassis.
The transmission on the John Deere 7800 is a choice between a PowrQuad transmission which gives the 7800 16 speeds going forward and 12 in reverse or a Power Shift transmission that has slightly more forward gears at 19 and the same amount of gears in reverse at 12. The fuel tank on the JD 7800 is reasonably large, capable of holding 344.4 liters (91 US gallons) of diesel, allowing it to stay in continuous operation for long periods without ever needing to come back in for a refill. It is quite an effective pulling tractor with a strong category 3N, 3 point hitch or optionally a category 2, 3 point hitch while it has an good rear lifting capacity of 4048 kg (8925 lbs).
The shipping weight of the JD 7800 is 6309 kg (13910 lbs), but this increases when in operation to 7058 kg (15560 lbs). The standard wheelbase on the John Deere 7800 tractor is 2.9 m (114.4 inches) but this increases if the tractor is using dual wheels. Most people are very happy and pleased with this tractor. If you are having having problems with it or need parts to repair it you can usually find them by going to you nearest John Deere dealer.
