John Deere 6820
The John Deere 6820 tractor from the guys at JD is a four wheel drive tractor and features a chassis based frame design. Most of the production of this model was carried out in Germany.
The John Deere 6820 has a 6 cylinder engine. The common rail injection system is electrically controlled. Like most of the other John Deere farming tractors, this model too is available with four transmission options. Amongst these transmission options, AutoQuad Plus option is one of the most advanced as it offers as many as 20 gears. These gears are further divided into five ranges with each range having four gears. This model is equipped with a reverse level which is separate and hence all the 20 gears can also be used to move in backward direction. The John Deere 6820 has also got an automatic system which enables automatic changing of the gears depending upon the speed of the engine.
The John Deere 6820 weighs 6440kgs. The combined safest weight of trailer and tractor is 11065kgs. This model is equipped with Michelin XM 108 tyres, both on the front as well as rear side.
The JD 6820 had to go through severe testing process. As is always the case with all the John Deere models, this one too was only made available for purchase after making sure that it stands up to all tests.
According to the test results it was derived that the fuel saving aspect of this model is on a higher side. The official test report of this model termed the fuel saving aspect as ‘very high’. The report revealed that the engine is able to save a lot of fuel especially when driven on even roads which enable the operator to use high gears. The AutoQuad Transmission of this model was also appreciated during the testing process. This transmission was able to deliver excellent performance. The test report stated that one of the reasons why this transmission worked great was because of the fact that it is automatic. The test also stated that there was not much difference felt or experienced in the functioning of the engine and the performance was almost the same with or without the loader being attached to the John Deere 6820.
