John Deere 5101E
The John Deere 5101E utility tractor is one of the largest in the 5000 series of utility tractors that JD produces in it’s assembly plant in Augusta, Georgia. From the name of the tractor you will probably have already guessed that the engine powering it produces 101hp. This engine is designed an built in house by JD. It’s a PowerTech diesel engine that has a displacement of 4.5 liters and is turbocharged. The engine is liquid cooled using a system that holds 11.4 liters of water. Air entering the engine is first filtered through a dry type air filter before entering the combustion chamber. The JD 5101E’s engine is started with a 12 volt battery that produces 750 cold cranking amps. This battery is then recharged by a 90 amp alternator when the engine is running.
The gearbox on the John Deere 5101E utility tractor is a PowrReverser which supplies the tractor with 12 forward and reversing gears. This transmission allows the JD 5101E to reach a top speed of up to 36 kph (22.4 mph) when traveling forwards and a top speed of 39.2 kph (24.4 mph) when reversing. The exhaust on this model is vertical and located in front of the cab. You can get a cold starting kit for the JD 5202E which consists of an engine block heater and an air intake preheater, so fear not if you leave in particularly cold climes.
At the rear of the John Deere 5101E tractor, you will find a category 2, 3 point hitch to which a huge range of attachments and implements can be attached. This machine is very versatile, no matter what weather you are working in thanks to the climate controlled cab that will keep you cool on hot days and warm on cold ones. You can check out the John Deere 5085M, the John Deere 5093E or the John Deere 5095M tractors if you are looking for something a bit smaller than this one.
