John Deere 4310
The John Deere 4310 is a compact tractor manufactured by John Deere for 2 years from 2002 until it was discontinued in 2004. It was the new version of the 4300. This interesting compact has a Yanmar 3TNE84 3 cylinder, diesel engine with natural aspiration and a displacement of 1.5 liters giving it a maximum power of 31 hp . It’s liquid cooling system requires 5.7 liters of coolant. The transmission on the JD 4310 is a partially synchronized SyncShift transmission that gives 3 speeds in reverse and 9 speeds going forward. The oil capacity of the transmission is 23.8 liters. All John Deere 4310’s were built in Augusta, Georgia.
It’s direct injection fuel system is much favored by people using this tractor in colder climes as it allows for easier starting. The eMatch Operating System that comes with this tractor is very handy indeed as it controls the engine so as to divert power to where it’s most needed depending on the task at hand. It also has the benefit of eTouch foot pedals which mean that you can easily control the power and braking with much less effort than on previous John Deere compact models. One gripe that many people have with much older tractors is that if you run out of fuel (and it’s a diesel like the John Deere 4310) then you have most likely damaged the engine. Fortunately John Deere has remedied this with it’s Auto bleed system, so if you do run out of fuel, all you need to do is add more and you are good to go!
The John Deere 4310 measures 2.97 m (117 inches) in length and it’s width is 1.72 m (68 inches), although this will obviously increase if you choose to add on a mid mounted mower deck. The total weight of this compact tractor is 1179 kg (2,600 lbs) for the 2WD model, while the 4WD version weighs in at 1315 kg (2,900 lbs). There are also a large number of attachments and implements available for this compact, from snowblowers/throwers to mowing decks and disc harrows.
