John Deere 4120
The John Deere 4120 compact utility tractor is a tractor from the 4000 series of machines from JD. The JD 4120 is a very versatile machine that can be used with a range of John Deere attachments, from hay mowers, wheel rakes, rotary brooms, box blades, loaders, backhoes and soil pulverizers to wood chippers, manure spreaders, mowers, snowblowers, snow blades and sprayers as well as many more. This machine comes with 4WD and a rear PTO as standard, but also has the option of being equipped with a mid PTO for mid mounted mower decks. Smaller models include the John Deere 4105 and the John Deere 4005 while if you are looking for something with a good deal more power, then check out the John Deere 4720 tractor.
The engine powering the John Deere 4120 is designed and built in house by JD themselves. It’s a model 4024T. The engine is diesel powered and produces 43 hp when operating and optimal capacity. The engine is 2.44 liters in size but manages to produce so much power due to the fact that it’s turbo charged. The engine fires with a compression ratio of 20:1. The engine is prevented from overheating thanks to a liquid cooling system that requires 6.1 liters of water to full fill it from empty. The engine is lubricated by a full pressure system that takes 7.5 liters of oil.
The John Deere 4120 uses one of 2 different transmissions to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. One choice is an eHydro transmission that gives the JD 4120 infinite speeds over 3 ranges (Hi, Medium, Lo) and a top speed of 27.2 kph (16.9 mph) while the other is a PowrReverser that gives the the JD 4120 12 forward and 12 reversing speeds with a top speed of 27.8 kph (17.3 mph). If you own a 4120, then please feel free to leave a review of it below to let others know more about your personal experiences with it.

Looooooong gravel driveway maintainance, tree transplanting, general heavy lifting.
Seems like a very well made US machine.
Either offer a smarter/ affordable 3pt setup, or offer an override for the kill switch. Stop manufacturing safety devices only for the foolish.Prefferably both!
Cub 405 backhoe, 3pt, with pto pump. This is really a cat II attatchment, but the 4120 (cat I) handles it with ease. I can get in to some tight spots with the setup, and have adequate digging capability. The Cub could use some longer stabilizer legs for the high ride height of it’s attatchment.
Sometimes run out of travel on uneven terrain.
