The John Deere 2940 utility tractor gets it’s power from an engine that JD designed and built themselves. This engine is diesel fueled and liquid cooled with a cooling system that has a capacity to hold up to 18.9 liters of water. The engine is a 6 cylinder model that is naturally aspirated and has a total displacement of 5.9 liters. The engine is keystarted and comes with a John Deere TSS Hi-Lo gearbox. This TSS Hi-Lo gearbox gives the JD 2940 a total of 16 speeds going forwards and 8 speeds when it’s reversing. The fuel tank on this utility tractor can hold a maximum of 125.9 liters (33.3 US gallons).

The John Deere 2940 comes with an open operator station as standard. However, you can optionally get a cab for it if you live in an area that gets fairly tough weather conditions. The JD 2940 comes with a set of differential hydraulic wet disc brakes to control it’s speed. The standard chassis is a 4×2 2WD, but there is the option of a 4X4 MFWD 4WD chassis. The front wheels on the tractor which are responsible for steering it each measure 10-16 (10 inch width, 16 inch rim diameter) while the rear wheels measure 18.4-24 (18.4 inch width, 24 inch rim diameter). It’s wheelbase comes to 2.58 m (101.6 inches).
