John Deere 1950
The John Deere 1950 compact utility tractor is the largest in the 1050 series from the late eighties and early nineties. If you are looking for smaller models in this series, then you should take a look at the John Deere 1550 or the John Deere 1750 or the John Deere 1850 tractors. The JD 1950 is built on of 2 different chassis choices. One is the 4X2 2WD chassis, while the other is the 4×4 MFWD 4WD chassis. Depending on the chassis choice, the tractor’s weight will vary. Controlling the tractor is relatively easy thanks to it having hydrostatic power steering. For slowing down it use wet disc brakes.
The John Deere 1950 tractor gets it’s power from a engine that John Deere made in house. This engine has a displacement of 2.9 liters. It’s a turbocharged diesel and has 3 cylinders. The engine is prevented from overheating thanks to a liquid cooling system. The total output from the engine comes to 64.1 hp. There is a choice of gearbox for this tractor. You can go for an eight forward/4 reverse gearbox or instead you can go for an expanded gearbox which gives the tractor 16 speeds going forwards and 8 for reversing.
The John Deere 1950 is extremely versatile, which is what you would expect from a JD compact utility tractor. It can accommodate a range of attachments from front end loaders to plows, rotovators and sprayers. The front wheels on the JD 1950 vary depending on whether you choose a 2WD or 4WD chassis. The front wheels on the 2WD chassis each measure 7.5-16 (7.5 inch width, 16 inch rim diameter), while the front wheels on the 4WD chassis each measure 11.2-24 (11.2 inch width, 24 inch rim diameter).
