The John Deere 1641 tractor is interesting as it was built in neither North America nor Europe. Instead it was built in South Africa for a period of 6 years from 1982 until 1987. The tractor uses an ADE engine to power it. This is a diesel engine that that has 4 cylinders. The total volume of the engine comes to 3.9 liters and it’s power output is 61.7 hp. The engine is prevented from overheating thanks to a liquid cooling system. The engine is fitted with a dry type air filter which stops dust and other particulate matter from getting into the engine and disrupting the firing process.

When people were buying this tractor brand new, it came with a choice of either a 4X2 2WD chassis or a 4X4 MFWD 4WD chassis depending on your needs. The weight of the JD 1641 when built on it’s 2WD chassis comes to 3360 kg (7409 lbs), but it’s obviously a bit heavier if it has been built on a 4WD chassis, tipping the scales at 3630 kg (8004 lbs).
