John Deere 1565
The John Deere 1565 is the ‘mac daddy’ of front mowers. This model is much bigger than the rest of the commercial front mowers in JD’s current line up like the John Deere 1445 or the John Deere 1545 lawnmowers. The first thing that should strike you about it is that it’s just so powerful. The JD 1565 is powered by a large Yanmar, diesel engine. This 3 cylinder engine has a displacement of 1.64 liters and produces a whopping 38 hp, something that you would expect from a large compact utility tractor, not a mower! The liquid cooling system that prevents this engine from overheating holds 7.6 liters of water. The fuel tank hold 60.6 liters (16 US gallons) of diesel.
The gear system on the John Deere 1565 is hydrostatic with the ability to switch between Hi and Lo speeds. The top speed in the Hi range is 24.1 kph (15 mph) while in the Lo range, the top speed is 12.9 kph (8 mph). Speed is controlled via an internal wet disc braking system. When you are buying the JD 1565 brand new, you can get it with a hard (or soft) cab, which is ideal if you plan on using it in harsh weather conditions. Don’t forget that you can also use a number of attachments with this lawn mower. These include a 47 inch and 60 inch snow blower as well as a 54 inch and 60 inch front blade.
The mower deck options on the John Deere 1565 are very good too. You can attach a number of front mounted mower decks from 54 inches to 72 inches in cutting width to it. Many of these mower deck are from the 7 Iron II series which are much more durable that you average mower deck thanks to the fact that they are constructed from 7 gauge steel. The total shipping weight of the JD 1565 comes to 858.7 kg (1893 lbs) without the mower attached.
