John Deere 155C
The John Deere 155C lawn mower is one of the bigger mowers in the ‘100’ series that was built only during the year 2006. Like the other models in the ‘100’ series, all production of the JD 155C took place in their Horicon plant in Wisconsin. The engine powering this mower is quite a big one. It’s a 0.725 liter (44 cubic inch), 2 cylinder, V twin engine that has natural aspiration. The engine has a power output of 25 hp which easily powers the mower deck to cut through even very long and wet grass without much trouble. The engine is air cooled and needs to be filled with 1.8 liters of engine oil (from empty) to stay properly lubricated.
The mower deck on the John Deere 155C is a not as big as you might think for a machine with a 25 hp engine. The cutting width is only 48 inches wide. This mower deck can sit between 1 inch and 4 inches above the ground and it can be adjusted in .5 inch increments. If you are looking for less powerful ride on lawn mowers in the same series, then you should check out the John Deere 135 lawnmower or the John Deere 145 lawnmower. However if it’s something bigger that you after, then you may be interested in the John Deere 190C garden tractor lawn mower.
Thanks to it’s hydrostatic, Tuff Torq transmission, the John Deere 155C is an automatic which means there is no gear changing. Instead you just use either the forwards or reversing pedal to change speed or direction. Obviously the main purpose of the JD 155C is to cut your lawn, however there are also quite a few attachments that it’s compatible with. You can a John Deere 46 inch snow blade or you can add a John Deere 44 inch 2 stage snowblower to clear you driveway of snow during the winter. So if you do decide to purchase this model you will find that it’s more than just a lawnmower, it’s actually quite versatile.

Nothing runs like Deere !!!
Bought new at Lowe’s in 2006. Has 475 hours on the meter. The deck rusted through around the front spindle (it’s the lowest point) and I found a rebuilt 155c deck last month as a replacement. I look forward to another 12 years of good service
