John Deere 1023E
The John Deere 1023E sub-compact tractor is a very useful tractor that is popular among a number of different people, whether they are farmers, large garden owners or even professional landscapers and gardening contractors. The JD 1023E is capable of a massive number of tasks, from mowing to digging trenches with a backhoe to moving material with the front end loader. The tractor uses a Yanmar 3TNM72 diesel engine that is naturally aspirated. This engine is a three cylinder model that uses a liquid cooling system with a capacity to hold 3.7 liters of coolant to bring heat away from the engine. The engine has a total displacement of 0.9 liters and produces 23.5 hp. The engine uses a dry dual stage air filter to clean the air intake of impurities that can damage the engine and potentially impede it’s performance. The engine is started with a keystart system that uses a 12 volt battery which supplies the engine with 500 cold cranking amps.
The engine is recharged with a 40 amp alternator when the engine is running. The John Deere 1023E uses a hydrostatic transmission (with Hi and Lo ranges) to power the wheels. This gives the sub compact tractor a top speed of 14.6 kph (9.1 mph) going forward. The total weight of the JD 1023E is not particularly high. It’s operating weight is 610 kg (1345 lbs). The front wheels on the tractor measure 18×8.5-10 (18 inch diameter, 8.5 inch width, 10 inch rim diameter), while the rear wheels are obviously bigger, each measuring 26×12-12 (26 inch diameter, 12 inch width, 12 inch rim diameter). You can get turf or industrial threaded tires for this tractor.
A 54 inch or a 60 inch mid mounted mower deck can be attached to the John Deere 1023E for cutting your lawn. The front of the JD 1023E can work with either a John Deere D120 front end loader or a John Deere H120 front end loader. The rear hitch is a limited category 1 that has a max safe lifting capacity of 650 kg (1433 lbs). The slightly larger model in this 1 series is the John Deere 1026R sub-compact tractor.

My first John Deere – always owned Kubota.
The 1023e is a very nice tractor
The worst thing I hat about this tractor is the exhaust pipe points forward and all I breath in is exhaust, does john Deere know diesel fumes cause cancer? it should be pointed down or back?
The front grill has very protection from tree limbs.
After 100hrs, it still runs like new.. Couldn’t be happier..
it would be great little tractor if it all worked properly
I like. Think they are on the right track with the quick attach attachments. I can unhook the loader in less than 10 minuts. I can mount or dismount the backhoe in about 15-20 minutes. The mower is a snop just a click.I would recomend this tractor to anyone who can use it’s size.
It works great as long as you can keep parts from falling off of it due to John Deere’s design. The brake being on the left side makes it too easy to slam on the gas rather than the brake. Dangerous.
The Bucket attachment worked as advertised. Very happy with it. The brush hog has caused me a lot of headache.
Comfortable ride
Goes anywhere
Need weights to keep one end or the other on the ground.
Spring loaded pins fall off
Bucket
