Cub Cadet Tank L48
The Cub Cadet Tank L48 zero turn lawn mower gets it’s power from a Kohler Command engine that produces 25 hp. This is a twin cylinder that has overhead valves. The engine has a total displacement that comes to 0.724 liters. The Kohler engine draws gas from fuel tanks that can hold up to 32.2 liters (8.5 US gallons). In total there are 2 fuel tanks. The engine is prevented from overheating thanks to an air cooling system. It has a full pressure lubrication system which keeps the engine working smoothly throughout operation. There is a heavy duty, dual element air filter on the engine which prevents dust and particulate matter from getting into the engine. The gasoline engine on the L48 Tank is started using a 12 volt battery which is then recharged by a 20 amp alternator once the engine is running.
Power from the engine on the Cub Cadet Tank L48 lawn mower is transferred to the wheels through a combination of Hydro-Gear PK-12 pumps and Parker wheel motors. This system allows the operator to control the speed and direction of the L48 Tank using the twin lap bars in front of him. The top speed of the lawnmower comes in at 16.1 kph (10 mph) when traveling forwards and 8 kph (5 mph) when it’s reversing.
The mower deck on the Cub Cadet Tank L48 obviously has a cutting width of 48 inches (you hopefully guessed this from the name). This deck is floating and houses 3 blades. The deck is made primarily of 10 gauge steel, but some areas (e.g. the skirts) have 7 gauge steel reinforcements to add strength. The mower deck on the L 48 Tank can operate as low as 1 inch above the ground and as high as 5 inches above the ground. It is raised and lowered in small 0.25 inch increments. The Cub Cadet Tank L60 zero turn lawn mower is a similar but larger model.
