The Cub Cadet G1236 zero turn lawn mower uses a Briggs and Stratton one cylinder engine to power it forwards and turn the mower deck. This engine has overhead valves and uses a recoil starting mechanism. The engine keeps everything working smoothly through a splash lubrication system. The engine has a large 18.9 liter (5 US gallon) fuel tank to supply it with gasoline. The Briggs and Stratton engine transfers power to the wheels through a Peerless transmission that gives the G 1236 walk behind lawn mower 5 speeds and a top speed of 9.7 kph (6 mph). The lawnmower is controlled through a set of pistol grip controls.

The Cub Cadet G1236 walk behind lawnmower is driven by it’s rear wheels, each of which measure 13×5-6 (13 inch diameter, 5 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter). Meanwhile the front wheels, whose main job is to keep the mower deck elevated and to allow it to turn easily each measure 9×3.5-4 (9 inch diameter, 3.5 inch width, 4 inch rim diameter). You’ll notice that the rear wheels have a turf thread, while the front wheels are both bald.

The mower deck on the Cub Cadet G1236 self propelled walk behind commercial lawn mower has a cutting width of 36 inches. This deck has 2 blades inside it. The deck is made from 10 gauge steel. The blades are powered using a belt drive system. The mower deck can be raised up to 4 inches above the ground if you are cutting particularly wet or long grass. It can also be lowered to 2 inches above the ground for a closer cut. The total weight of the machine comes to 199.6 kg (440 lbs). When buying the G 1236 walk behind lawn mower brand new, it comes with a 2 year limited commercial warranty. One Review of the “Cub Cadet G1236”

  1. Bruce M. says:

This has been an excellent mower, have used for 13yrs, 30 cuts/yr, 1.5 acre. One carb change, otherwise only maintenance items: yearly oil, air & fuel filter, spark plug. Great value, still going strong.

    Year of Manufacture: 2011
Pros: Powerful, fast, cuts even tall grass well, handles slopes without bogging down
Cons: Deck, wheels, and hand grips all 36″ width affects trimming
    Attachments: None
Modifications: Raised discharge chute slightly for better dispersion
