Craftsman YT3000
The Craftsman YT3000 garden tractor lawn mower is quite similar to the Craftsman 28001 12.5 HP 30 Inch Lawn Mower except that the power output of the YT 3000 is 3 hp less at just 21 horse power, while the YT3000 comes with a choice of either a 46″ or a 42 inch mower deck. The Briggs and Stratton Platinum series engine powering this mower is a single cylinder model that uses a fully pressurized lubrication system to keep the moving parts working smoothly. The engine uses a paper based air filter to stop particulate matter from entering into the combustion chamber. The total displacement of this 21 hp engine is 0.54 liters.
This engine powers the rear wheels on the Craftsman YT3000. Each rear wheel measures 18×9.5-8 (18 inch diameter, 9.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter) while the front wheels, which are responsible for steering the lawn mower each measure 15×6-6 (15 inch diameter, 6 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter). The fuel tank on the YT3000 can hold a maximum of 9.5 liters (2.5 US gallons) of gasoline. The mower deck on this lawnmower has a cutting width of 46 inch and has 2 blades which can be raised and lowered from a high 4 inches down to a low of 1.5 inches above the ground.
While the main purpose of the Craftsman YT3000 lawn tractor is to mow your lawn, it also can accommodate a range of attachments. Probably the most useful of these is a the front blade which can be used for clearing debris and snow. There is also a snow blower attachment for those living in areas with particularly large snow falls. For collecting the grass clippings there is both a 2 bin and 3 bin bagger attachment. Please let others know what you thing of the YT 3000 lawnmower by leaving a review below outlining both it’s positive and negative points. Always the required maintenance oil change, fuel filter, have air filter, etc. etc. this past spring I had to replace an ignition coil that is it. I really like it very dependable.
other than needing new blades and a tune up, this tractor runs great.
Briggs intek 21hp,compression relief valve on cam went after 6 years, motor teardown, blade engagement cable snapped, both spindles on deck shot, not used on a large lawn, now puffs oil when starting, not going to last much longer, look elsewhere if u need a tractor,
u get what u pay for,u want cheap u get cheep.
TEND TO disagree with the last reviewer. I found that the tractor is a well made machine. Briggs & Stratton engine(s) are the engine of choice when it comes to lawn tractors. This is the same as Husquerva, and cub cadet.
My previous review is my experience with this tractor, google briggs intek cam shaft problems,u will see this is a issue, the compression relief on the cam disintegrates causing a no start issue, motor tear down required to fix,i am not saying it happens to everybody, its a risk, also head gaskets tend to go,causing oil leak or consumption, easy cheap fix.
tractor itself is fine,no issues, problem is Briggs
cam shaft.
