The Craftsman 21 Inch Single Stage Snow Blower is the entry level snow blower from Craftsman. It is much smaller and far less powerful than the Craftsman 22 Inch Dual Stage Snow Blower or the Craftsman 26 Inch Dual Stage Snow Blower because of the one simple fact that it’s just a one stage machine. It does have an auger like the other machines in the Craftsman snowblower range, but it does not have an impeller to help force the snow out through the chute. This machine is powered by a Craftsman designed and built 0.12 liter engine. This is started by either a recoil, pull cord system or by plugging it in and pressing the ‘on’ button. The fuel tank on this machine can hold up to 1.9 liters (0.5 US gallons) of gasoline.

The intake height on the Craftsman 21 inch single stage snowblower is actually quite small when compared to all the other snowblowers that Craftsman make, like the Craftsman 24 Inch Dual Stage Snow Blower, which all have much higher intake heights. The intake height on this single stage snowblower measures just 0.25 m (10 inches).

The wheels do not provide the machine with any forward thrust. Instead the auger is used to drive this snowblower forward. It is made from rubber and has a diameter of 0.23 m (9 inches). This auger has be purposefully been built so that it’s a little too big. This causes it to come into contact with the ground on each rotation. Each time it comes into contact with the ground it pulls the machine forward slightly. As the auger is spinning so fast, this is all that’s needed to drive the machine forward. This auger is what shoots the snow out of the Craftsman 21 inch, single stage snowblower. It forces the snow up the polymer chute and throws it up to 7.6 m (25 feet) from the machine.
