Ariens Max Zoom 48
The Ariens Max Zoom 48 inch zero turn lawn mower is the smallest model in the Max Zoom series of mowers from Ariens. The 2 bigger models in the series are the Ariens Max Zoom 52 and the Ariens Max Zoom 60 zero turn lawnmowers. The Max Zoom 48 mower is also known as the Ariens 991085. The engine powering this machine is a powerful Kawasaki FR series engine. This engine is a 2 cylinder, 4 stroke behemoth that pumps out 24 hp from a displacement of 0.726 liters. This engine transfers power to the wheels (remember that it’s the rear wheels) via a hydrostatic transmission that allows you to control the speed and direction of each rear wheel independent of the the other rear wheel. It is this action that allows this machine to execute zero radius turns.
The top speed of the Ariens Max Zoom 48″ zero turn lawnmower is 12.9 kph (8 mph) going forwards, while in reverse it can hit up 6.4 kph (4 mph). The fuel tank on the Max Zoom 48 can hold up to 27.6 liters (7.3 US gallons) of gas. These stats means that this machine is perfect for large areas, such as parks and playing fields, as it allows the operator many hours of continuous operating time before needing to refill it.
The mower deck on the Ariens Max Zoom 48″ lawn mower is fabricated from 10 gauge welded steel. The mower deck consists of 3 small blades. These blades are engaged using a belt drive system. The deck is engaged using an electric Ogura GT1A clutch. Hopefully you have already guessed that the deck has a cutting width of 48 inches. It can be raised and lowered over 9 different positions from 1 inch above the ground up to 5 inches above the ground.
