John Deere 1070
The John Deere 1070 compact utility tractor is a popular and well liked machine that is still in use on farms and large gardens today. The JD 1070 stopped getting built over 10 years ago in 1998. It was superseded by the John Deere 4600 tractor. The JD 1070 has a 4TN84 powering it. The engine is a 4 cylinder model that uses a liquid cooling system which needs to be filled with 5.8 liters of water from empty. The engine fires at a compression ratio of 17.8 to 1. The full pressure lubrication system which keeps the engine running smoothly can hold up to 5.3 liters of engine oil. The engine is naturally aspirated and has a total displacement of 1.9 liters.
The 38.5 hp that the engine produces gets to the wheels through a partially synchronized transmission, using a dry clutch for shifting gears. This gearbox gives the John Deere 1070 9 speeds traveling forwards and 3 for when it’s reversing. The gearbox has an oil capacity of 20.8 liters. It gives the JD 1070 a top speed of 19.8 kph (12.3 mph) when traveling forwards, but when it’s reversing, it’s top speed is just 7.7 kph (4.8 mph). The tractor is built around a choice of chassis. You can pick the standard model which is a 4X2 2WD chassis or instead get it with the optional 4X4 MFWD 4WD chassis.
The engine on the John Deere 1070 also powers the hydraulics system. This gives the 3 point hitch (category 1) a rear lifting maximum capacity of 916 kg (2020 lbs). The total weight of this tractor comes to 1481 kg (3265 lbs) when it has been built around the 4X4 chassis, but the model that has been built with the 4X2 chassis weighs in at 1351 kg (2980 lbs). The tractor comes with a choice of tires, either standard ag threaded tires or turf thread tires. Smaller models in the same series as this include the John Deere 870 and the John Deere 970 tractors.

Best money I ever spent. Tractor still runs great is a work horse. In 4 wheel drive it’s amazing.
I have it since new with many attachment.
Best investment I ever made. No issue at all. Standard transmission.
I wish when I purchased it, I could get factory cab.
I got after market which the quality and workmanship is very poor.
