The Bad Boy MZ42 zero turn lawn mower is from the MZ range of Bad Boy zero turn lawn mowers that are far cheaper and more affordable than the likes of the Bad Boy CZT42 or the Bad Boy CZT50 lawnmowers. The MZ 42 lawnmower gets it’s power from a Briggs and Stratton engine that supplies 21 hp. This engine uses an air cooling system and is a single cylinder model. The total volume of the engine is 0.54 liters. The engine uses a standard air filter to prevent dust and other particulate matter from getting into the engine. The fuel filter stops contaminants in the fuel tank from making their way into the engine. You can tell that this lawn mower is aimed at residential users as the fuel tank is a good bit smaller than most of the other Badboy machines. It can only hold up to 11.4 liters (3 US gallons) of gasoline.

The engine powers the rear wheels through a dual hydrostatic transmission system that gives the Bad Boy MZ42 infinite speeds with a top speed of 9.7 kph (6 mph). The mower deck on the MZ 42 is 42 inches wide (obviously!). This deck is made from steel that is 1/8″ thick. The deck is floating and inside there are 3 blades, each with a width of 14.5 inches. The blades are fabricated from 0.25 inch thick steel that has been heated treated so that they last longer before need to be replaced. Attached to the mower deck is a number of small plastic anti scalping wheels which work to prevent the lawn mower from cutting into the ground.

There is a larger model of the Bad Boy MZ42 lawnmower available which has both a bigger engine and wider cutting width. This is the Bad Boy MZ48 zero turn lawn mower.
