Husqvarna LZF5227
The Husqvarna LZF5227 zero turn lawn mower has many similar siblings that include the Husqvarna iZ5223, the Husqvarna EZ5224 and the Husqvarna MZ5225T zero turn lawn mowers, but this is review of the LZF 5227, so we will be talking about it exclusively from here on in. The engine that powers the Husqvarna LZF5227 is a twin cylinder Kohler. This engine draws fuel from a set of 2 identical fuel tanks that have a total capacity to hold up to 43.2 liters (11.4 US gallons). This massive fuel capacity makes it quite clear that the lawn mower is a mostly commercial one as it doesn’t require refills every couple of hour like residential mowers usually do.
The engine uses a dual hydrostatic transmission from Hydro-Gear to transfer power to the rear wheels. This transmission system makes the LZF 5227 an automatic. As this is a zero turn mower, there is no steering wheel to control it. Instead there are 2 operator bars in front of the drivers seat. The operator presses both bars forward to move forwards, both backward to move backwards and in opposite directions to perform zero radius turns. The top speed of the lawn mower is quite high, maxing out at 16.1 kph (10 mph).
The engine also powers the deck on the Husqvarna LZF5227 lawnmower. This deck has a total width of 66 inches when the discharge chute is in the down (on) position, but it’s actual cutting width comes in at 52 inches. The height of the deck can be varied from a high of 6 inches to a low of 1.5 inches above the ground. The raising and lowering of the deck is done with the help of a foot operated assisting lever as it is so heavy. You’ll also be glad to know that the LZF 5227 comes with a foldable roll bar (ROPS) as standard to help protect the driver.
