The Husqvarna EZ5224 is not something you are that likely to find in your average garage. Instead, you are far more likely to find it being used by commercial landscaping crews. This is due to it’s size and power, but mostly due to it’s cost. The mower deck on the EZ 5224 has a cutting width of 52 inches. This mower deck has 3 blades housed inside it. The blades are belt driven and are engaged by the operator through an electric PTO. The mower deck has anti scalping gauge wheels attached to the leading edge so that the mower deck consistently follows the contours of the ground that it’s traveling over without the blades accidentally catching the ground.

The mower deck on the Husqvarna EZ5224 can operate as high as 4.5 inches above the ground down to a low of 1.5 inches. Even though the deck on the lawn mower has a cutting width of 52 inches, it’s total width is actually a good bit higher at 69 inches when the protective chute is down. For dealing with the grass clippings on the EZ 5224, you can collect them in an optional rear bagger attachment to leave your lawn looking really neat or instead you can just discharge them onto the grass. The final option is to use a mulching plug to turn them into a nutritious and fast decomposing mulch.

The Husqvarna EZ5224 uses a Kohler engine to power it. This produces 24 hp. The power is then transferred to the wheels through a ZT 2800 dual hydrostatic transmission that gives the operator control over each rear wheel independent of the other. Going forward, the EZ 5224 has a top speed of 11.3 kph (7 mph) while in reverse it can reach up to 6.4 kph (4 mph).
