The Simplicity Champion zero turn lawnmower is another quality machine from the team at Simplicity. It gets it’s power from a Briggs & Stratton Extended Life Series, 2 cylinder engine. This engine produces 26 hp and fortunately uses a very large muffler to reduce the noise of the exhaust so it won’t be too loud to use in residential neighborhoods. The engine draws gas from a fuel tank that can hold up to 24.6 liters (6.5 US gallons). To transfer power from the engine to the wheels a dual hydrostatic Hydro-Gear transmission is used which allows the operator to control each rear wheel independently. This ability to control the wheels independently is what allows you to execute zero radius turns.

The rear wheels on the Simplicity Champion measure 20×8-10 (20 inch diameter, 8 inch width, 10 inch rim diameter), while the front wheels measure 11×4-5 (11 inch diameter, 4 inch width, 5 inch rim diameter). The front wheels are only half the size as they provide no traction or steering to the Champion, the rear wheels take care of that. The mower deck on this mower has a cutting width of 52 inches, although it’s total width when the discharge flap is down comes to 62 inches.

The 3 blade deck on the Simplicity Champion is hand adjusted over 7 different positions from 1.5 inches above the ground to 4.5 inches above the ground in 0.5 inch increments. The mower deck has rear rollers to flatten the grass after it has been cut. Located on the leading edge of the mower deck you will find small anti scalp wheels whose job is to keep the deck above the ground and from catching on random lumps in the lawn.Other models of zero turn lawnmower that are similar to the Champion include the Simplicity ZT2000 and the Simplicity ZT3000 zero turn lawnmowers.
